The horror world just got a whole lot more exciting. Following the release of the first trailer for M3GAN 2.0, speculation around a collaboration between the iconic killer doll and Behaviour Interactive’s Dead by Daylight is heating up — and now, it seems more than just wishful thinking.
In past developer Q&As and community interviews, Dead by Daylight devs have openly expressed interest in bringing M3GAN into The Fog. With her sleek design, unsettling charm, and now a whole new film packed with lore, it feels like the perfect moment to make it happen.
The Trailer Drops – And So Do Hints
On April 3, Universal Pictures unveiled the first official trailer for M3GAN 2.0, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2022 techno-horror hit. The film, directed once again by Gerard Johnstone and written by Akela Cooper, will hit theaters on June 27, 2025.
The sequel picks up two years after the events of the original, following Gemma (Allison Williams) and her niece Cady (Violet McGraw), who are trying to move on from the trauma M3GAN caused. But peace doesn’t last long. A powerful defense contractor misuses M3GAN’s code to create Amelia, a next-gen, military-grade infiltration android — and she’s every bit as unhinged as you’d expect. Played by Ivanna Sakhno, Amelia is set to be M3GAN’s deadliest rival yet.
To stop this new threat, Gemma and Cady do the unthinkable: they bring back and upgrade M3GAN.
The trailer blends horror with campy action, showing off new tech, wild choreography, and a scene of M3GAN flying through a canyon to the beat of Britney Spears’ Oops!… I Did It Again. Yes, really.
M3GAN in Dead by Daylight? Devs Say They Want It
With the timing of the trailer and the developers’ previous comments, fans are buzzing about the likelihood of a Dead by Daylight x M3GAN crossover. What’s more, rumors are swirling that the game could receive multiple skins directly inspired by M3GAN 2.0, including a Legendary Amelia Skin — a first if Behaviour decides to double-dip into the franchise with multiple killer representations.
But the real fuel to this fire came from the devs themselves.
The team at Behaviour has made it clear they’re actively looking to bring in more modern horror icons, and M3GAN is at the top of that wish list. In an interview with TheGamer, Senior Game Designer Escalante offered a surprisingly candid remark:
“I’ve never seen the film, so it’s silly for you to mention it, but I really want to see M3GAN in DbD.”
It might sound tongue-in-cheek, but Escalante’s comment shows the team’s real enthusiasm about M3GAN’s potential. He also revealed a desire to create a haunted house map, a setting rich in paranormal flavor that would match perfectly with M3GAN’s uncanny AI menace.
The combination of a futuristic android killer and an old-school haunted house could offer one of the most unique killer–map pairings the game has ever seen.
Final Thoughts
With M3GAN 2.0 generating hype and Behaviour’s developers openly talking about their desire to bring her into Dead by Daylight, all signs point to a future where this deadly doll becomes part of the game’s ever-growing killer roster.
It’s no longer a stretch — it’s starting to feel inevitable.
