Following the production of the Tokyo Ghoul chapter, it seems that Dead by Daylight is not stopping there when it comes to collaborations with Japanese anime. According to insider reports, a Death Note crossover is also in development, bringing another legendary anime franchise into Behaviour Interactive’s asymmetrical horror universe.
Tokyo Ghoul Arrives in Dead by Daylight
The highly anticipated Tokyo Ghoul chapter will introduce Ken Kaneki as the new Killer, complete with his terrifying Kagune-based powers that enhance mobility and allow for devastating attacks. The chapter will also feature Rize Kamishiro as a Legendary Skin, giving players another way to embrace the ghoul aesthetic.
The chapter is set to be officially showcased at TADAIMA Japan in Tokyo on March 12, with the PTB launching on March 11 and the full release scheduled for April 2, 2024. This marks a major milestone, as Tokyo Ghoul is the first anime property to enter Dead by Daylight—but it won’t be the last.
Death Note Collaboration in the Works
Insider sources suggest that Behaviour Interactive has been working on a Death Note collaboration, further cementing Dead by Daylight as a crossover hub for some of the most iconic franchises in horror and anime history. While official details remain scarce, speculation is already running wild about how Death Note could be adapted into the game.
Potential Killer: Light Yagami or Ryuk?
Given Death Note’s unique premise, implementing a traditional Killer could be a challenge. However, possibilities include:
Light Yagami as a Killer, using the Death Note to eliminate Survivors in a delayed but inescapable fashion.
Ryuk, the Shinigami, who could take on a more supernatural role, hunting Survivors in a terrifying new way.
Potential Survivor: L or Misa?
On the Survivor side, L Lawliet, the world-renowned detective, would be a prime candidate, embodying the intellectual battle that defines Death Note. Another possibility is Misa Amane, whose connection to the Death Note and Kira could play into her Survivor perks.
A New Era for Dead by Daylight Collaborations
With Tokyo Ghoul leading the way and Death Note reportedly on the horizon, Dead by Daylight is clearly expanding into anime horror in a major way. This move opens up endless possibilities for future anime collaborations, bringing even more diversity to the game’s already impressive roster of Killers and Survivors.
As we await further confirmation on Death Note’s inclusion, fans of both anime and horror gaming can look forward to an exciting future in Dead by Daylight. Stay tuned for more updates!
